How the calculator works
- You charge = item price × quantity + postage + gift wrap.
- Listing fee = $0.20 × quantity, converted at 26 Oct 2026 rates (Etsy charges $0.20 to renew a listing for each item sold).
- Transaction fee = 6.5% × what you charge.
- Processing fee = rate × (what you charge + tax Etsy collects from the buyer) + fixed fee, by your bank account's country.
- Regulatory operating fee = rate × what you charge (UK, France, Italy, Spain, Hungary).
- Offsite Ads = 15% or 12% × what you charge, never more than $100.
- Currency conversion = 2.5% × what you charge, if ticked.
- VAT on fees = your country's standard VAT rate × all of the above, unless you've given Etsy a VAT ID (Irish shops: always).
- If you're VAT-registered, the VAT included in your price is taken off as money you owe, not profit.
- Break-even and target price: the calculator searches for the lowest item price where profit ÷ what you charge reaches 0% or your target.
Simplifications: Etsy converts the listing fee at its own rate; deposit fees, Etsy Ads, postage labels, Share & Save credits and sale-specific discounts aren't included. The fee model is tested against hand-worked examples.
