What's different for Irish sellers

Ireland is the one EU country where VAT on Etsy's fees doesn't stop when you give Etsy a VAT number. Etsy's EU seller fees are billed by its Irish company, so for an Irish shop they're a domestic supply and carry Irish VAT at 23% either way. Everywhere else in the EU, a valid VAT ID moves the VAT to you under the reverse charge and Etsy stops adding it.

What that means in practice: if you're not VAT-registered, the €0.69 of VAT on the example order below is a plain cost, like the fees themselves. If you are VAT-registered, Etsy still charges it, but it's input VAT you can normally reclaim on your VAT return, so in your accounts it isn't a cost. It still leaves your Etsy balance, though, so your deposits look lower than a German or French registered seller's would.

Irish shops pay 4% + €0.30 processing on the whole order, including postage and any tax collected, and no regulatory operating fee. Revenue receives platform reports (DAC7) for sellers with 30 or more sales or about €2,000 or more in a year. Keep the monthly statement CSVs as your records.

Want this for every order, not just one?

The Profit & VAT Tracker for Etsy sellers reads Etsy's monthly statement CSV (paste it in) and sorts every row into sales, refunds, each fee type, VAT on fees, Etsy Ads, Offsite Ads and postage labels, then shows profit per month and for the tax year. For EU and UK shops, VAT-registered or not. Excel, and built for Google Sheets. If it doesn't read your statement, you get a fix or a refund.
